Look What I Got
May 24, 2010
Back in February or so I got bitten by one of those rabid plot bunnies. You know, the kind that don’t leave you alone ever. Not even in the middle of the night when you’re trying to sleep.
It had nothing to do with what I was currently working on (third book in the series after Terms of Surrender). It wasn’t even the same time period. No, it was Regency.
Never thought I’d find myself writing Regency until I got this idea.
I resisted for a while, but finally I gave in and wrote the first chapter. And then I wrote the next chapter, and the next, until I found I’d completely been ignoring Nathan and Sarah. (I’ll get back to you, promise.)
So then the opporunity to enter a first page contest came up. You started with your first paragraph, and then it worked like Survivor. Every week, the bottom five got voted off and those remaining entries got to add another paragraph, until after four weeks, your first page was up, and only ten finalists remained.
Last Friday I found out I was still in the running. Today the ESPAN chapter sent me this snazzy little badge to display.
Winners will be announced at Nationals. I didn’t make plans to go, but I can still hope.
